Statement of Purpose

The International Center of West Lafayette (Indiana), Incorporated is a non-discriminatory non-profit community organization governed by its own Board of Directors. The Center operates from two buildings at 523 and 525 Russell Street in West Lafayette, Indiana.

The purpose of the International Center is to foster a spirit of global cooperation and understanding among residents of the Greater Lafayette (Indiana) community. This is achieved through educational, social, and service programs that acknowledge and affirm the international diversity of our community.

To fulfill this purpose within the Greater Lafayette (Indiana) community, the International Center will:

  1. Sponsor and/or participate in international activities that promote cultural exchange;
  2. Respond to requests from local organizations wishing to expand their understanding of people and cultures from around the world; and
  3. Provide information about Greater Lafayette (Indiana) and special assistance to International residents and visitors, including the Purdue University community.

To fulfill this purpose through facility-based programs, the International Center will:

  1. Provide educational, meeting and recreational facilities for community and student organizations;
  2. Coordinate the activities of groups using the International Center; and
  3. Furnish rental accommodations for eight International students to enhance their opportunity for a unique cooperative living experience.
